It's depressing how we all believed Harry would mature and develop into a capable, competent protagonist, in order to defeat Voldy. Instead, the latter devolved and became increasingly stupid and acted irrationally and was forced to give all the advantages to Harry and was victim of ridiculous plot contrivances in order to be defeated.
Harry didn't defeat Voldy. JKR did. She just wrote it that way, with no regard to realistic victory, one that is fought for and earned, it was just awarded to Harry.
