Am I the only one a little bothered by Dumbledore? Not only with the fact he could end up in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "Most Incompetent Headmaster of All Time" (though I'm sure there's worse. :P), but also because...he just bugs me. I know JKR was trying to write him as the "flawed Yoda", so to speak (and to be fair, he's nowhere near Yoda. XD), but it's also how...preachy he gets. Towards Fudge, for example. You know, in Goblet of Fire, with, "You place too much importance on purity of blood, yadda yadda et cetera et cetera" -- which considering how he treated Tom Riddle and the Slytherins is...slightly hypocritical isn't it? Probably bad writing on JKR's part, though. :/

Anyways, sorry 'bout the rambling. Thoughts?

I think Dumbledore's Start of Darkness really occurred after the whole Grindelwald fiasco.</i< I knew Dumbledore reminded me of someone! He's an incompetent version of Ultimate Charles Xavier! Subtext-filled relationship with a metahuman-supremacist while they plan to conquer the world, a bad breakup leaving them crippled either physically or emotionally, manipulation of their students (although the Ultimate X-Men at least suspect that he's messing with their heads), still retaining the greater good mindset and never letting sight of their initial goals (Xavier may have abandoned the conquest plan, but he's quite sure that mutants will replace humans at some point and is actively planning the best way for this to happen), and both meet their deaths when their stories are going downhill! It all fits!
