Mar. 4th, 2011 12:36 pmAm I the only one a little bothered by Dumbledore? Not only with the fact he could end up in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "Most Incompetent Headmaster of All Time" (though I'm sure there's worse. :P), but also because...he just bugs me. I know JKR was trying to write him as the "flawed Yoda", so to speak (and to be fair, he's nowhere near Yoda. XD), but it's also how...preachy he gets. Towards Fudge, for example. You know, in Goblet of Fire, with, "You place too much importance on purity of blood, yadda yadda et cetera et cetera" -- which considering how he treated Tom Riddle and the Slytherins is...slightly hypocritical isn't it? Probably bad writing on JKR's part, though. :/
Anyways, sorry 'bout the rambling. Thoughts?

Date: 2011-03-06 04:25 am (UTC)But more seriously; the HP wizarding world have the worst education system I have ever read about.
Considering some of the books I read and the fact that 6 HP books take place, more or less, from start to finish in the school that is truly an accomplishment. /sarcasm

Date: 2011-03-06 02:52 pm (UTC)Seriously, there are so many things about the Wizarding World that are completely broken that Mike Nelson and company actually mocked them in the HP Rifftrax(es). :P

Date: 2011-03-09 05:35 am (UTC)I love that! It's such a cool idea! Lol, I want someone to write a fic about that now...
And I can't take people who say they'd prefer to attend Hogwarts. Seriously? Half the staff is unqualified or crap at teaching or endangers their lives or up to no good! The headmaster plays favorites and lets certain people get away with almost anything, up to attempted murder! Education is a joke!
I've been thinking about Marietta lately. Like, did her mother complain? Or even Floo call/turn up to Hogwarts to demand an explanation for why her daughter has irreversible facial disfiguration and no memory of how it happened, to boot? Obv there was no accountability for that- Hermione was never punished, though everyone knew she did it.
How about that Slytherin boy who wound up with (implied) brain damage after the twins shoved him into the Vanishing Cabinet? I wanted to smash something after people insisted he brought it on himself for apparating out (not sure how that worked, when it's not supposed to be possible at Hogwarts)- like, yeah, the kid should've just stayed trapped and died of thirst and starvation. Don't blame the kids who put him in a position where he attempted something dangerous to try and save himself, it's all his fault!

Date: 2011-03-11 03:13 am (UTC)Every time something bad / humiliating happens to somebody, from feeding them dangerous "candy" to attempted murder, is always "He/she is evil / annoying and he/she asked for it!"
With people in "authority" never punishing the "pranksters", sometimes covering for them and often praising and awarding them for it!
