Mar. 4th, 2011 12:36 pmAm I the only one a little bothered by Dumbledore? Not only with the fact he could end up in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "Most Incompetent Headmaster of All Time" (though I'm sure there's worse. :P), but also because...he just bugs me. I know JKR was trying to write him as the "flawed Yoda", so to speak (and to be fair, he's nowhere near Yoda. XD), but it's also how...preachy he gets. Towards Fudge, for example. You know, in Goblet of Fire, with, "You place too much importance on purity of blood, yadda yadda et cetera et cetera" -- which considering how he treated Tom Riddle and the Slytherins is...slightly hypocritical isn't it? Probably bad writing on JKR's part, though. :/
Anyways, sorry 'bout the rambling. Thoughts?

I went to the LotR movies with my study buddies (I went to University at the ripe age of 36 back in 2001 and so I've got friends who are 15-18 years younger, which is lots of fun but sometimes also very weird). One of my study buddies was totally blown over by the Fellowship of the Rings and couldn't stop talking about it. So we chatted, and somewhere along the line I mentioned how long a wait it would be for us to see the second movie, and he went, "there's a sequel?", and we went, "Huh? It's a *trilogy*. Tolkien split up his book in three parts and the movie follows that format," and he went, "There's a BOOK?!" and we fell off our chairs.
The poor boy had never heard from Tolkien. (that has been rectified in the past ten years, of course :-)"
That's pretty awesome. :3
"Tolkien stealing from George Lucas. Oh yeah. Sure. *headdesk* *headdesk*"
XD
Seriously, one could definitely say it's the other way around.
And that last quote is just awesome beyond belief. XD
