Of course, in HBP I thought we were seeing the beginning of a turnaround--if they hadn't pushed Montague in the cabinet or if they'd cared about how he got out they would have known about the cabinet. But instead it was like the wand change thing--just clever for how the plot links things up. There was nothing wrong with what they did, it just sucks to be Montague--and those blasted Slytherins then went and made something evil out of it with the cabinet plot. (Later itself totally brushed aside when it turns out Draco could have just asked the room to become a tunnel going through the castle wards. D'oh!
