In the UK-market audio books Stephen Fry intones Sirius as "serious", so I wasn't aware there was such a huge difference. I wonder if it's supposed to sound more like Osiris without the O.
(That is, with an initial short I sound as in SIH-rus, not with a long I as in SYE-rus.)
