Hermione strikes me as a bit pathetic & pitiful character, waiting for the love of her life to pay attention to her and trying to perceive every word as a sign of romantic passion.
Yeah, I have to admit having that much of a reaction to a throwaway joke on Ron's part sugests she's got it pretty bad for him!
