This is a very vividly-colored bird, from Africa- what a surprise (though it doesn’t say where in Africa. I’ll put my money on the Congo basin or somesuch). Its feathers are used to make fancy quills, and I’m beginning to wonder if that’s where Rita Skeeter’s green quill initially came from.


Anyway, the Fwooper has a song that will drive anyone who hears it long enough to insanity, and as such, wizards who keep them as pets need to put silencing charms on them. Incidentally, there’s another footnote about the idiot Uric the Oddball, who listened to Fwooper song for 3 months on end under the impression it was good for you. He then arrived at a meeting wearing nothing but a dead badger. I have to wonder if this was before or after the Augurey incident, and what he got up to since....
