I could tolerate her in the first four books. The fifth one just made me hate her. The only thing we knew about her in books 1-4 was that she had given up her life so Harry could live. Then we had to read about her saintliness and how she stood up for Snape before, ya know, calling him Snivellus along with James and the others.
Snape was no angel in that scene either, but at least he was human. What sort of kid would want to be 'protected' by a girl against a group of obnoxious bullies. James' crush was painfully evident and I'm sure Snape saw it as well, which doesn't help matters for him either.
She's tiresome to me. A dull lacklustre character who would need more dimensions before JKR decided to heft her up on a pedestal.
