Neville's accidents

I've been reviewing some of Neville's numerous accidents, and I notice that most of them hurt himself only or primarily, if anyone was hurt at all.

Except one, that I recall.

The professor who amused himself by zooming Trevor about the classroom, himself was later thrown violently about by Neville's malfunctioning charm.

WHAT a coincidence.

OTOH the subject taught by said professor was one in which Neville did well in the OWL (though it isn't clear when he started doing well).

Continuing that thought: Does Neville's performance in his Charms OWL mean that without the presence of Trevor's torturer he is OK at Charms? Does this translate also to Potions? While Neville caused at least 6 cauldrons to melt he never caused any of his brewing to explode in Severus' face or anything of the like. How well did he do on his Potions OWL?

Neville's OWLs

We know he got O in Herbology, E in Defense and Charms, and A in Transfigurations--meaning that he at the least got more passing OWLs than one of the twins (who bagged between them fewer than Ron's 7). We don't know any of his other grades.

Certainly we never saw Neville perform to an E standard in front of Flitwick. But I don't recall that we ever saw him practicing magic 5th year except in the DA, and Jodel points out that it's not until 5th year that Neville seems to buckle down and TRY to learn anything.

Harry mentioned that he felt HE performed better in Snape's absence, and that he thought Neville "looked happier than he'd ever seen him in Potions class," but we don't know if that translated to better performance. We don't even know, by then, what Neville's standard performance with Snape was.

Canon just doesn't give us enough to say.
