*In classical mythology Centaurs were famed for gang rapes. I didn't know that, but Rowling surely did (after all she uses mythological references plenty of times in her books & studied it at uni), this makes this accident even more badly looking. I prefer the interpretation in the recommended fic. It is just imo (unlike gang rape) & didactic.
