The Knarl is virtually indistinguishable from a hedgehog except that it will vandalize the property of anyone who offers it food. It is unclear exactly why Knarls are so suspicious of food, as the only reason given is that the Knarl will assume it is being lured into a trap…. How so?
Anyway, Rowling gets patronizing again with this one: “Many a Muggle child has been accused of vandalism when an offended Knarl was the real culprit.”
