The Murtlap is found in coastal areas of Britain, where it eats crustaceans. It resembles a rat with a growth on its back, which has curative properties. Essence of Murtlap growth was used in Book Five to help treat scars left by Umbridge's tortures, and later helped to cure boils caused by one of Fred's and George's magical candies.
