Um - yes. Albus set an unreliable sneak thief and a well-meaning, reliable Squib to guard Harry. I'm sure he knew very well that neither one of them could do a thing against a well-trained wizard, much less against Dementors. Another sign that Dumbledore was hoping Harry would get killed?
