*Malfoy has noticed that Harry gets no letters. Harry is therefore forced to take equally obsessive interest in Malfoy’s post. He gets packages from home and opens them so gloatingly Harry can see the gloat all the way from the Gryffindor table without any projecting of his own issues onto Malfoy at all!
Because the only-child, who's been homeschooled all his life, and is now at boarding school for the first time couldn't possibly just be happy to get mail from his parents.
*I wonder if when Malfoy was lying on the bathroom floor bleeding his life didn’t pass before his eyes as a series of all the other times Potter looked at him with murder in his eyes and he thought, "He finally did it."
Nothing much to say to this, except that I can totally see it, and it's such an awful, sad thought.
