To be honest, I think it would be more like Draco to pull their legs about that too--oh, yes, I'm the Heir and I get into the Chamber of Secrets from a secret passage off my dorm room!
BUT--we know it really is true that Lucius doesn't WANT Draco to go about saying wildly politically incorrect things. Remember the interchange in B&B, which we don't have any reason to suppose they thought Harry to be eavesdropping on. Disdaining Muggles and their fans, fine; going to Knowktrun, fine; being enemies with "the hero who made the Dark Lord disappear", or seeming to know to much about the earlier opening of the Chamber--not prudent, Draco.
In fact, given that Lucius is himself behind the opening of the chamber, he almost certain has told Draco to BE ignorant and to PLAY ignorant.
And there are other Slytherins in the room listening in on his conversation, any of whom might get word back to Father if Draco went too far in pulling Potter's leg....
