Now, Dumbledore assumes/believes that he is working for The Common Good. Therefore, what is good for him is good for everyone. He's the good guy, the defender of the innocent and the weak, the teacher, The Only One Voldemort Fears. It goes without saying that what's good for him is good for those who are good to him.
I don't know if that's arrogance, very scary, or both.
