Someone somewhere made the case that Molly was from a lower class than Arthur. I can't remember how it went, but it had something to with how Molly believed the Daily Prophet very easily, and other things. (Does anyone remember how it went?) Although I'm sure she's a pureblood, her background doesn't seem to be as upper-class or upper-middle-class as Arthur's.
I think it was Red Hen who suggested that explanation. It works. But I think Arthur is the real deal and Molly seems really set on battling to keep up the old ways. Even if Arthur has let them go forever.
Poor Molly, she makes it into one of the old families and discovers they are on the way out. How disappointing for her.
