I did notice in GoF that Ron just went and hung with Dean and Seamus, leaving Harry stuck in the library with Hermione, trying to commit suicide by papercut. So even though Harry and Hermione and Ron are the special group, and Ron prioritises them (and Hermione probably strongarmed him into the quizzing) I do think he's actually friends with Dean and Seamus. And of course he should be, since he is the most normal of the Trio, and a boy's boy with it.
Yup, that was my thought as well. Though, like SisterM, I'd like to know why he doesn't spend more time with Dean and Seamus, who probably don't lecture him for being "pathetic" and inadequate and who might actually be fun.
