I’m more curious as to why Neville is under the impression that Harry is his friend? To the point where he’s bumbling around Confronting His Deepest Fears looking for him to save him from his own mistakes?
I was going to say that because he's Neville he's just supposed to be Doing What's Right, even if that's not exactly right. Maybe he just keeps trying to get through to Harry through the one thing that seems to get his attention?
There also seems to be more repetition that Malfoy’s going to catch Harry, not tell McGonagall, since Neville and he have continued that weird thing they have of overhearing each other’s conversations (I think it comes up in POA, too?)
Okay, somebody needs to write a Draco/Neville theory and fanfic about that. "I heard Malfoy say..."="Malfoy whispered this in my ear..." "I overheard Longbottom say..."="Longbottom shouted this when we were making love..."
