In my capacity as official Hater Of The Snape-Loved-Lily cliche, I must say that I've hated her for a while. Logically, it makes no sense that he would have loved her, but there are a lot of things that make no sense that Rowling made canon, so I'm actually quite worried that that'll turn up in the books to the point that I'm now genuinely hoping he's asexual. Seriously, the idea that Lily was Beloved By All makes me want to puke :( I too do not understand why Rowling thinks removing all flaws and sensible objections to a person is somehow the key to making them more loveable. But I get the impression that Rowling genuinely does consider certain people to be superior beings.
