I have a theory about that. You see, although he was transferred to D.A.D.A., Snape's been supplying Lupin with the Wolfsbane potion this year, since it's necessary for Lupin to keep his head while spying.
So while he was breaking down, Lupin was thinking, "Damn! Where am I going to get my Wolfsbane now?"
He needn't worry. Who needs Wolfsbane when you have Tonks' perky pink-haired love?
