Oh, and I figure that Lucius thinks the curse on the diary works about like this as far as victim selection: it gives a general order to the victim to attack people who are not purebloods, and then it is entirely dependent on what the victim knows or believes about everyone's blood status to choose targets. So as long as Ginny (or Harry) believes Draco to be a pureblood--and Lucius can be pretty certain that they do believe this--then Draco is safe.
