Curious anecdote: back when I was at the Digimon fandom, the term "Designated Hero" was usually thrown around, not in the same intent as the Jabootu folks (the show writers were at least capable of calling the heroes on anything non-heroic they did), but to refer to those characters who always got to defeat the Important Villains, regardless of how much more capable the rest of the cast otherwise is. (Ex.: "Why did Ken's Crest transform into a Digimental that is compatible with V-Mon?" "Because V-Mon is Davis' partner and Davis, as the Designated Hero, needs to win the last battle of the storyarc. DUH!")
