Also conveniently enough, Harry is still primed to become an Auror, as predicted by everyone and their mother pre-HBP. I suppose we should be glad Snape wasn’t forced to lower his standards for Harry, all things considered. That really pissed me off. I was all set for Harry to be denied the job he supposedly wants (and I don't think he'll get, because that means he'll have to actually listen to Scrimgeour and be the Ministry's media darling, should he survive Voldemort, and with Harry being all 'I'm Dumbledore's MAN!' I don't think he really realizes how he's going to go from Dumbledore's puppet to the Ministry's by becoming an Auror [/rant ]) because for once, he would have to rethink his goals and choices, and maybe realize that the first thing you want to be when you grow up isn't always what you end up doing. Instead, it's like JKR bends the rules by making Snape the DADA prof. Harry doesn't do as well as he could on his Potions OWL? Oh well, let's just switch teachers who will be more willing to accomodate teh Chosen One!!1! accepting of students. Gag.
Seriously, the Quidditch portion of the books might have been more interesting if Gryffindor didn’t always win, or if the other Houses actually had a stronger team. Argh, I am so sick of hearing about bloody Gryffindor. I want Ravenclaw to win the House Cup. Or Hufflepuff. Why does Gryffindor always have to win? And why does everything seem to be about Slytherin and Gryffindor? Are Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff really that unimportant? And if so, why have all the bloody Sorting Hat songs be about school unity, and then turn around and have none of the characters do a damn thing about it? *fumes*
Plot bunny: “Chosen One” has been adopted as a term of ridicule among the Slytherin House. I hope so. It certainly made me think less of JKR as a writer to use that term. It's so freaking cliche!
