It's really sad but also funny to think that Sirius doesn't even have a clue Lily and Snape were friends. And frankly, maybe they weren't. It's like if I thought about people I became friends with when I was a senior in high school, would I expect them to know that I used to be best friends with a girl I never talk to now when we were in eighth grade? I can't believe there weren't conversations where Lily didn't explain their friendship by saying he was the only Wizard she knew.
The mirror is so silly but yes, sad for Sirius. Here they have all this trouble trying to communicate with him and then Sirius actually solves the damn problem so they can talk all the time and Harry chucks it away. Sure there was the noble "I won't use it because I'm protecting him" but sorry, somebody who was really close to him...you'd think Harry would actually be tempted to use it. Luckily he never has the urge to see or speak with Sirius unless he has a specific problem he thinks he might solve.
