Honestly, the first time we ever encountered the goblins back in PS/SS, I thought, "Wow.. they sound sort of... Jewish." Not real Jewish, but the stereotypical villainous Jew immortalized by Shylock and Fagin.
He might have delivered a monologue had he not been in a scene with Hermione. She never allows anyone to monologue when she can put up her hand and give the correct answer herself.
