I just wanted to let people know that the "Very Potter Musical" kids have finally broadcast their sequel, A Very Potter Sequel.

Unfortunately, the sound is just as difficult as the first musical, so you will need to hook up your speakers or wear earphones. But it's worth it.

They include a lot more snark in this one--so much so that I'd think they've been reading DTCL. Except the stuff we comment on (like Hermione's similarities to Umbridge) has been noted on other sites as well. :)

I tried to watch 'A Very Potter Musical' but it just wasn't worth the trouble for me, the audio was so bad. You'd think they would have cleaned it up the second time around?

What's the origins/setting of these musicals? One-off live plays, not really intended to be recorded?

As far as I can tell, they were created by a group of students at the University of Michigan, probably as a student project. Definitely not main stage shows.

Unfortunately, they don't have the best mix for sound recording--so it is a bit of a chore to hear the lines/songs. But I think it's well worth the effort.

They have made better recordings of the songs, which are pretty good.

They also did a couple other things--a web series called Little White Lies and a non-Potter musical called Me and My Dick.

For obvious legal reasons, they didn't make any money from the musicals. They did them for the heck of it (and a growing fan base). They performed the first Potter musical at a fan convention.

In the Sequel, I liked the way they used the time turner to change the time line. It gives them so many more options for satire.

I liked that it turned the story in both a sequel and a prequel. :)

Yeah, I'm glad they gave him another good part.

Likewise, I'm thrilled that they cast Cedric's actor as Lucius Malfoy. He's probably got the strongest voice in the company and it's great that he gets to do more in the sequel than he did in the first musical. His duet with Snape is wonderful.

Sorry to trouble you with this, but do you know where/how I can d/l the soundtrack? I went to their site, but I can't d/l the songs. >_< I click on the d/l link but all that comes up is the thing asking whether you want to make a donation and once I click out of that, nothing else comes up, so...hmm.

I haven't tried downloading the soundtrack yet. They put out another album (their first album was the soundtrack for Little White Lies) on Itunes, which has songs from all three of their musicals, I think. But they put up a youtube clip saying that the rest of the songs for AVPS wouldn't be available immediately. So, I've been waiting to even check for it.
