And so I bring you another really boring magical magic creature...
Chizpurfle
Yeah, try saying that five times fast.
MOM Classification: XX
Anyway, Chizpurfles are just small crablike animals that infest homes and the fur of pets. They eat small magical objects like droplets of potion or wands, which they’ll chew to the core. However, there is a footnote that in Muggle homes they’ll attack electrical appliances. Sorta makes you wonder if or how they even survive doing that. But anyway, the same footnote also points to a book entitled Home Life and Social Habits of British Muggles, which is presumably more racist than the Beedle tale “Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump.”
Chizpurfles are easy enough to destroy with potions, but severe infestations require special aid because the more magic they eat the stronger they get.
Last boring entry in awhile, I promise:)

Date: 2011-08-03 01:47 am (UTC)I suppose this creature joins the doxy and the bundimun as pests mentioned in Gilderoy Lockhart's book about house pests (the one Molly consults in OOTP). Can anyone arrange to bring some to Albus' tomb, to gnaw on the Elder Wand?
