POA - Chapter 18
May. 10th, 2007 09:45 pmMoony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs
*Ron is hysterical as Sirius prepares to kill the only animal his family could afford. Which means there was no charge.
*Lupin actually takes some initiative and holds Sirius back from his deed. He tells Sirius that Harry deserves to know the story. This will be the first and last time that Lupin will think this way. Afterwards he disappears into Doofydrawers black ops unit.
*Doofy subsequently gives Lupin a brain transplant in which he will dream of pink, whiny Hufflepuffs, kind of like Winnie the Pooh's pink Heffalumps.
Beware Beware Be a very wary bear
Ahh, you can't get finer advice than from Pooh.
I think I want to see Pooh as Dumbledore. Who would Snape be? Piglet or Rabbit? I'm holding out for Piglet.
"Bu, bu, bu, but Harry, you must now realize that I am the Half Blood pri, pri, pri, prince." LOL
*Oh yes, and Scabbers is squealing like a piglet. It must be because he is a very FAT rat. We can't ever forget who is overweight in this story.
*Unfortunately, Sirius agrees to let Lupin be the exposition bee.
*Sirius states that the Marauder's Map never lies. Obviously. We all KNOW how truthful Sirius and crowd were in their school years. They were paragons of truth except when it involves pre-planned murder. But of course nothing of their making could or would lie.
*Also Lupin states that Peter is an Animagus too! Oh! And that day, Peter "died" was all just a big set-up. Peter killed everyone, he is a mass murder. But Sirius only tried to kill one person and didn't succeed. Therefore he is only an attempted manslaughterer. Not the same at all!
*Ron gibbers. But of course, Hermione knows all about Animagi because we have to know about them. She has already written a dissertation on them and there are only 7 in this (actually last) century. McGonagall being one of them.
*I don't know, McGonagall's looking kind of shady here and just why is Hermione checking up on her? She even knows Minnie's identifying animal marks. Hmmmmm, something tells me that this may come into play in book 7. When Minne becomes bride of Voldiestein! Hey, I can dream the big, impossible dream.
*And no, Peter is not listed among the 7. So there, Sirius. Talk your way out of that one Lupin.
*Lupin tells Hermione that there were three, unregistered Animagi. The marauders!
*Way back, Lupin was bitten by a werewolf and could only expect a life of exile. Isn't this a great society? I want to live in a world that shuns small children. It is so deserving of Harry's selfless, full of love sacrifice for it in book 7.
*Dumbledore allowed Lupin to attend Hogwarts even though he would be endangering not only Lupin but the whole student body. But that didn't matter. Dumbledore needed a werewolf, indentured servant to do his bidding.
*Lupin states that the Shrieking Shack is haunted because of him and the weeping willow was planted for him as well. Which just goes to show how desperate Dumbledore was to get a werewolf he could train in his thrall.
*Because the Marauders were such great guys (no ulterior motives at all in befriending a werewolf except for maybe manslaughter of a certain Sevvie), they learned the animagus transformation.
*While they roamed in their animal forms, they discovered the secrets of Hogwarts and created the map. This could mean that Lupin was actually in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade in his werewolf form. Nice. Dumbledore always thinking of safety first.
*Hermione scolds Lupin on endangering the school. But Lupin doesn't really feel guilty, he just plays lip service to guilt. Its just as good as actually feeling it. WW values, gotta love them.
*Lupin lays on the facade of remorse again by stating he should have told Dumbledore that Sirius was an animagus. But oh well. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda...the motto of Remus Lupin.
*Lupin adds in the "woe is me" angle by stating that he spent years being shunned so that justifies his being a nincompoop and endangering the school again.
*Everyone in the WW has a story to explain away their many moral failings. Don't you love it? So honorable. Totally better than our medieval muggle world.
*"ohyesandsnapedidn'twantLupintoworkatHogwartsbecauseohsomanyyearsagothemaurauderstriedtokillhim." mumble, mumble
*But wait there is a story to justify it all!!@!!!!!! Snape hated James. Yeah. Really hated him and was always bullying him. So it was only too understandable that Sirius would want to kill him by letting Werewolf Lupin eat him for dinner!
*Speak of teh ebil devil who deserved to die for hating James, he appears! Snape is in the house and looking for some payback.

Date: 2007-05-11 08:19 am (UTC)Two people! He tried to kill two people. First Snape, when he was at school, and then Pettigrew. Because IIRC he says in PoA that he went to find Peter intending to kill him. LOL, he got totally outclassed by Peter though. *feels strangely fond affection for Wormtail*
Which kinda makes me wonder whether Sirius knew how how to perform the Avada Kedavra. It's suggested in the Shrieking Shack chapter that Sirius was totally capable: he had no doubts about his ability to kill anyway...

*Oh yes, and Scabbers is squealing like a piglet. It must be because he is a very FAT rat. We can't ever forget who is overweight in this story.
Even when he's thin, he's fat.
You know, if Sirius broke out of prison intending to kill Peter--why didn't he go after Scabbers at the Burrow? Why go to Privet Drive instead? Wouldn't that have been easier all round?

Date: 2007-05-11 03:35 pm (UTC)Unfortunately indeed. Sirius can lie, but Lupin is past master in Creative Retelling.
*While they roamed in their animal forms, they discovered the secrets of Hogwarts and created the map. This could mean that Lupin was actually in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade in his werewolf form. Nice. Dumbledore always thinking of safety first.
Lupin says that there were some 'close calls', in which he came close to kill or maim someone. Non that this stopped him or his friends, and perhaps gave Sirius some ideas.
Lupin gives me the creeps in this chapter, even not as much as in the next one...
