[For the attempted break-in of Gringotts, they decide Hermione will be Polyjuiced to look like Bellatrix]

Hermione: I really hate that I have to go as the woman who tortured me.

Harry: Well, look on the bright side—it’s only for one chapter.

Hermione: I can already tell it’s going to be a long chapter.

First task is here, OOOOOOH YEEEAAAAAAAAHHH!!

If you want a recap straight from the horse's mouth about the four types of dragons featured in the tournament, you can find what I've written on them earlier (complete with pictures) below:

Welsh Green, Chinese Fireball, Swedish Short-snout, Hungarian Horntail

Incidentally, it seems as though this book predated Fantastic Beasts, which suggests that Rowling created these four dragons first and then filled in the rest later.

Alright, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. We get to learn about...

the Dragon

MOM Classification: XXXXX

The entry prefaces by saying that dragons are among the most famous magical creatures because they’re so hard to hide. They’re also fucking awesome, of course, so no shocker there. The females are larger and more vicious than the males of any species- which seems to sum up Rowling’s attitude toward women pretty well, depending. There are ten pure breeds of dragon, but I’m not sure that’s the right word to use. See, “breed” is almost always used to mean a domestic animal specifically designed for various purposes- since I don’t see how that could apply to dragons (although, you never know- the Acromantula was bred by humans orignally too) it seems more likely that what the author really means is something along the lines of “subspecies” or “races” (but probably not separate species, since the dragons can interbreed).

Next I’ll cover each individual, ah, let’s say race of dragon.
